Line: 1 – 4
As the Earth grows warmer, the grain-producing areas are shifting towards the polar regions. The fertile plains will be abandoned and turn into giant dust bowls. Greenland and Antarctica, which are now covered with ice sheets, will be the new great powers for agriculture and human settlement.
পৃথিবী উষ্ণ হওয়ার সাথে সাথে শস্য উৎপাদনকারী অঞ্চলগুলি মেরু অঞ্চলের দিকে সরে যাচ্ছে। উর্বর সমভূমিগুলি পরিত্যক্ত হয়ে বিশাল ধুলোর পাত্রে পরিণত হবে। গ্রিনল্যান্ড এবং অ্যান্টার্কটিকা, যা এখন বরফের চাদরে ঢাকা, কৃষি এবং মানব বসতির জন্য নতুন বৃহৎ শক্তি হয়ে উঠবে।
Line: 5 – 8
The poet foretells that the climate refugees who are displaced will seek advantage by making those emerging powers compete against each other, but still, we will be economically poorer than we are now. The good tillable land will no longer be found. They will either become barren or submerged in water. The suburbs which are used for living now will turn to farmlands.
কবি ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করেছেন যে, জলবায়ু উদ্বাস্তুরা যারা বাস্তুচ্যুত হবে তারা এই উদীয়মান শক্তিগুলোকে একে অপরের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিযোগিতায় বাধ্য করে সুবিধা খুঁজবে, কিন্তু তবুও, আমরা এখনকার চেয়ে অর্থনৈতিকভাবে আরও দরিদ্র থাকব। ভালো চাষযোগ্য জমি আর খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে না। হয় সেগুলো অনুর্বর হয়ে যাবে, নয়তো পানিতে ডুবে যাবে। বর্তমানে বসবাসের জন্য ব্যবহৃত শহরতলির এলাকাগুলো কৃষিজমিতে পরিণত হবে।
Line: 9 – 12
The cities will be crowded with poor people. They will not be able to afford cars. They will go to their workplaces by walking or by crowded trolleys. People will plan the practical nut trees that produce food instead of planting the ornamental trees like elms or oak trees. They will not leave any place to produce their own food. So, they will start to grow vegetables in their front lawns.
শহরগুলো দরিদ্র মানুষে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠবে। তাদের গাড়ি কেনার সামর্থ্য থাকবে না। তারা হেঁটে অথবা ভিড়ের ট্রলিতে করে তাদের কর্মক্ষেত্রে যাবে। মানুষ এলম বা ওক গাছের মতো শোভাময় গাছ লাগানোর পরিবর্তে খাদ্য উৎপাদনকারী ব্যবহারিক বাদাম গাছের পরিকল্পনা করবে। তারা তাদের নিজস্ব খাবার উৎপাদনের জন্য কোনও জায়গা ছেড়ে দেবে না। তাই, তারা তাদের সামনের লনে শাকসবজি চাষ শুরু করবে।
Line: 13 – 16
The economic condition of the government will be weakened due to a lack of tax collection. So, the people have to maintain the public building by giving their free labour, like raking the library and City Hall and tuckpointing the chimney of the Federal Building.
কর আদায়ের অভাবের কারণে সরকারের অর্থনৈতিক অবস্থা দুর্বল হয়ে পড়বে। তাই, জনগণকে তাদের বিনামূল্যে শ্রম দিয়ে পাবলিক ভবন রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ করতে হবে, যেমন লাইব্রেরি এবং সিটি পরিষ্কার করা এবং ফেডারেল ভবনের চিমনি মেরামত করা।
Line: 17 – 20
If the public buildings are not restored properly. They would be destroyed or collapsed like the temples in Rome did a thousand years ago. They might be turned into grazing ground for cattle.
যদি সরকারি ভবনগুলি সঠিকভাবে পুনরুদ্ধার করা না হয়, তাহলে হাজার বছর আগে রোমের মন্দিরগুলির মতো এগুলি ধ্বংস বা ভেঙে পড়বে। এগুলি গবাদি পশুর চারণভূমিতে পরিণত হতে পারে।
Line: 21 – 25
The poet mentioned an ancient and powerful city in North Africa, Carthage. It was an important trading hub. Goods were traded at a low price. The city was destroyed by the Romans in the Punic War. The poet predicted that Korean armadas would patrol all over the world for their trading mission.

Line: 26 – 29
The people in the modern world are busy with enjoyment and consumption, but this luxurious life and comfort are short-lived. Arctic is sending messages regarding the impending danger due to global warming. Still, we are indifferent.
আধুনিক বিশ্বের মানুষ ভোগ-বিলাস এবং ভোগ-বিলাসে ব্যস্ত, কিন্তু এই বিলাসবহুল জীবন এবং আরাম ক্ষণস্থায়ী। আর্কটিক বিশ্ব উষ্ণায়নের কারণে আসন্ন বিপদ সম্পর্কে বার্তা পাঠাচ্ছে। তবুও, আমরা উদাসীন।
